About Matt
Meet A Songster
Matt Lives for Performing
Matt has been performing and recording solo and in bands for most of his life. His unique take on music comes from his wide variety of musical experiences. He has played in the pit and on-stage for musicals, busked on the streets on four continents, and been on over a dozen commercial releases. From touring in a reggae band, creating and performing music for bellydancers, playing weddings and town celebrations with variety bands to releasing his own independent rock, jazz, funk, and world music CDs, Matt has almost done it all and continues to find new ways to keep music in his, and everyone's, life.
He currently plays in the folk group Sycamore Gap who releases their fourth album, The Irish Album, this Fall full of Irish and Irish inspired folk songs. Sycamore Gap plays at the MN Renaissance Festival each Fall as well as other festivals and house parties throughout the year.
He started Treylor, a tribute to the songs of Taylor Swift in the summer of 2024 and contributes guitar and vocals in the band. Treylor plays both as an smaller acoustic act as well as with a larger band. View the Treylor tab for more info.
Matt also has a new folk and roots band that will debut in 2027.
Matt loves to play solo acoustic music. He mixes old folk from America and the British Isles along with early rock and roll and classic pop from the 40s to today. These performances are geared toward audiences young and old.
And that's what a songster does! Before jukeboxes, radios and (now) streaming, songsters were adept at multiple styles and entertaining varied audiences. Matt brings that energy and attitude today.
